MAXED Program

 

FOR EXPERIENCED SCOUT CAMPERS

OWASIPPE MAXED is a special program that is available June 28th to July 4th. Scouts have the opportunity to participate in High Adventure, unique activities, badges and awards not available during the rest of the summer camp season.

bsa angler camp

Earn Angler Award in this 3 day camp. Learn everything fishing. Construct and position fish habitats and more. To learn about this program and requirements, refer to the Maxed Program Guide.

 

equestrian camp

Enjoy three days and two nights living the Diamond “O” Ranch wrangler lifestyle. Learn advanced riding skills beyond the Horsemanship Merit Badge. To learn about this program and requirements, refer to the Maxed Program Guide.

 

owasippe TRIATHLON

MULTISPORT MERIT BADGE: Scouts learn what it takes to compete in a triathlon. Participants will train with an OSR staff member who competes in multiple races. To learn about this program and requirements, refer to the Maxed Program Guide.

 

owasippe trek camp

OSR is home to diverse ecosystems from sand dunes, sprawling prairies, hidden lakes to pine forests. Some of the most beautiful sites can only be seen on foot. Spend your time backpack camping and become fully emersed in OSR’s 4800 acres. To learn about this program and requirements, refer to the Maxed Program Guide.

  • Scouts BSA program offered at Wolverine, Session 3 (June 28th to July 4th). Scouts have the opportunity to work on exclusive merit badges, activities & awards:

  • 4 Golf merit badge (with NEW Disc-golf requirements).

  • World Conservation Award.

  • Advanced River Trip.

  • ATV Overnighter.

  • Additional programs include OSR Fishing Derby, Run Club, Night Zip Lining, Blacklight Range & Target Activities (these additional programs will be available for signup at camp). General Maxed EVENT SCHEDULE

ARRIVING SUNDAY, JUNE 28th DEPARTING THURSDAY, JULY 2nd OPTION:

  • MAXED 3 Day Camps: Owasippe Triathlon, Ecology Camp, BSA Angler Camp, BSA Owasippe Trek Camp, Diamond “O” Ranch Equestrian Camp, River Canoe Camp.

  • Each MAXED camp: will have their own daily schedule but follow the same basic structure.

  • Sunday, June 28th: Camper check-in at Camp Wolverine follows the same procedures as Scouts BSA Summer Camp listed in Leaders guide. Introduction to instructors, setting up camp, dinner and opening campfire.

  • Monday thru Wednesday: Begin your chosen adventure, camping and having meals along the way. Depending on the program you choose, some camping and eating will take place in Wolverine, some programs will out in the field for the full length of the adventure.

  • Wednesday, 5pm: 3 day program ends and participants will celebrate at the Owasippe County Fair where awards will be presented photos taken and dinner provided.

  • Thursday, July 2nd: Full breakfast is provided. Morning departure after.

    INDIVIDUALS DEPARTING SATURDAY, JULY 4th OPTION:

  • Thursday, July 2nd: Participants with a unit camping in another program on the property are to be dismissed back to the unit leadership to complete their week stay. Scouts choosing this option may participate in available programming Thursday and Friday.

  • For participants without their unit in camp who are staying until Saturday, a provisional unit will be their home for Thursday thru Saturday departure. Scouts will be able to participate in available Camp Wolverine Scouts BSA program.

Ecology & conservation Camp

Experience the ultimate ecology adventure while earning conservation awards. Visit ecological sites at OSR with its’ unique ecosystems. Do important conservation work and learn the pro-tips of Leave No Trace. To learn about this program and requirements, refer to the Maxed Program Guide.

river canoe camp

The White River flows for over 200 miles through the Manistee National Forest. In this program participants will spend 3 days and 2 nights paddling the forest, camping along the banks and stopping for adventures.
